Step inside this spellbinding tale of murder and uncertainty.

The Corset is a tale narrated by two women of very different social standing. Dorothea, a wealthy young woman fascinated by the science of phrenology, tries to understand the compulsion of women to commit criminal acts. Ruth is an inmate at the jail but does she hold the ability to kill by the power of her sewing or is she just a naïve young woman blighted by bad luck and coincidence?
Members of the Book Club never managed to reach a consensus and this made for a great discussion. We were all in agreement that Ruth was the most captivating of the characters and our sympathies certainly remain with her. A murderer? Perhaps. An intriguing young girl wronged by many, doing her best? Absolutely.
