Jazz everywhere!
Here at Magazine Heaven, we pride ourselves in the events we provide for our customers, including the upcoming Jazz & Tapas evening that's coming up on the 18th of July.
By looking at this month’s issue of Jazzwise magazine, we can follow this theme of jazz and swing with the front cover-featuring jazz fusion and funk collective, Snarky Puppy, who will be bringing their Immigrance tour to the UK all the way from Brooklyn this November. In this article, Snarky Puppy’s bassist and bandleader, Michael League talks about his group’s sudden rise to fame, from the times when they thought success wasn’t in their grasp, to their now outstanding musical triumphs and sell outs. Currently in possession of 3 Grammy awards, Snarky Puppy remains humble of their achievements. They are always aiming to make the most out-there as well as ethnically inclusive music, recently delving into the world of Gnawa African –Islamic styles.
As well as the Jazz Fusion aspect of the swing front, we also look at the more traditional side, with a small feature of the Chris Barber Band. With this year being Chris Barber’s 70th year of band leading, he is taking his well-known and respected 10 piece jazz combo on tour around the UK in celebration of this long term commitment.
Other features of this month’s issue include the vast collection of new album releases from your favourite Jazz and Swing artists, so make sure to keep an eye out for these while they’re hot!
